5. Grok is Officially Open Sourced

A little less than a week after Elon’s public commitment, Grok has uploaded to Github the base model weights and network architecture for Grok-1, from a checkpoint last October. It’s being released under the APache 2.0 license which enables commercial use.

4. South Korea Warns of AI Threat to Democracy

AI is front and center at the Summit for Democracy in Seoul, where the SK President Yoon Suk Yeol called AI disinformation a key threat. The specific concern is Russia and China using the technology to advance disinformation campaigns.

3. US Military Holding AI Conference

The State Department is this week bringing together more than 100 delegates from 42 countries for a closed door meeting where the countries will discuss best practices and guardrails around the military application of AI.

2. Nvidia GTC Preview

Nvidia’s GPU Technology Conference or GTC is set to draw 300,000 in person and virtual attendees in what Bank of America analysts called “the Woodstock of AI.” The highlight is anticipated to be the B100, which is rumored to have double the power of the current generation H100.

Here’s a twist: Apple is apparently in talks to allow Google’s Gemini to power new AI iPhone features. Sources suggest they’ve also held talks with OpenAI, although that deal looks less likely.
