5. How Adding an Inner Monologue Increased AI’s Performance

A new method called Quiet-STaR has increased reasoning and doubled math performance, largely by teaching an LLM to slow down and think for a minute before responding to a prompt. We’re sure this won’t reignite conversations about AI sentience and self-awareness.

4. How AI Fits in Reddit’s IPO Pitch

Reddit begins trading on Thursday. According to their investor materials, a big part of the pitch is the value of their data for training AI models. This makes sense as the company recently signed a deal to provide Google training data in exchange for $66m, but there are some skeptics.

3. The Latest GPT-5 Rumors (Coming This Summer?)

Business Insider wrote a seemingly well-sourced story yesterday suggesting that GPT-5 is likely to come out around mid-year and that people who have seen it say that it is “really good, like materially better.”

2. Saudi Arabia Starting $40B AI Fund

Is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia about to become the world’s biggest AI investor? The New York Times reports that the country is planning to launch a $40B AI fund, perhaps in partnership with Andreessen Horowtiz.

1. Inflection Founders Leave for Microsoft

In a fairly shocking story, Inflection AI (the maker of the Pi personal AI chatbot) is undergoing a major change as two of its three cofounders (and many of its researchers) are leaving to join Microsoft. Former Inflection CEO Mustafa Suleyman will become the CEO of the new Microsoft AI division. Inflection technically does have a new CEO, but most people assume the writing is on the wall for Pi.
